NSTU Grants & Opportunities

The Nova Scotia Teachers Union offers members grants and opportunities in support of professional development, research and other educational endeavours.

NSTU Study and Research Grants

An amount is budgeted annually for Conference Grants, Educational Research Awards, and Full-Time Study Grants. The disbursement of these funds will be on the recommendation of the Professional Development Committee, ratified by the Provincial Executive. Application forms for all Grants, Awards, and Fellowships are available on the NSTU website or by contacting the Professional Learning Department of the NSTU Central Office.

Program Development Assistance Fund (PDAF)

The Program Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) is a joint initiative between the Nova Scotia Teachers Union and the Nova Scotia Department of Education. Each year, $200,000 is allocated to support innovative and creative program development in Nova Scotia’s public schools. PDAF provides teachers with financial support to develop projects that enhance student learning through unique, classroom-based innovation aligned with the Public School Program.

NSTU Insurance Trustees EDUWellness Grants

The NSTU Group Insurance Trustees will fund projects that support the mental health and well-being of plan members across Nova Scotia. The For Members-By-Members EDUWellness Grants have been established to support initiatives that promote the well-being of our plan members in an effort to recognize the tremendous work and efforts put in by you every day.

Individual Application | Group Application

Funds Available: 10 grants awarded at maximum of $1,500 per grant
Deadline: January 15, annually

The Sheonoroil Foundation is being reenvisioned, and we are no longer accepting grant applications at this time.

Teachers Plus Credit Union Teacher Wish List Grant

Teachers spend their own money to enhance their classrooms every day. Teachers Plus Credit Union wants to support teacher members in the purchase of their ‘wish list’ items for the 2025- 2026 school year. 

Funds Available: 40 Wish List Grants awarded up to a maximum of $300.00 per grant
