Welcome to the Inverness Local of the NSTU

A message from your 2024-2025 Inverness Local President:

As the 2024-2025 school year comes to an end, I want to extend my sincere thanks to the many NSTU members who have volunteered as Inverness Local school representatives and/or executive members, as well as those who serve on our Regional Representative Council and/or on provincial committees. The support provided by our Local volunteers to fellow union members this year has been nothing short of outstanding. Being part of a Local with exceptional teaching staff, from one end of our Local to the other, has naturally led to the involvement of excellent union volunteers—and it truly shows.

To all members of our Local, take the time to enjoy every moment of your well-deserved holiday. Remember, we work a full year in ten months, and now you have the chance to focus on yourselves and your families. To our retirees—Annmarie, Joyce, and Peter—our Local wishes you all the very best for a long, healthy retirement filled with love and laughter. 

On behalf of the Inverness Local, I want to extend our congratulations and best wishes to all the graduates from Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy, Dalbrae Academy, Inverness Education Centre/Academy, and SAERC. In particular, the Inverness Local wishes the ten recipients of Local bursaries nothing but success in their studies next year.

On a personal note, it has been both a pleasure and an honor to serve as your Local President for almost five years.  I remain confident that the leadership of our Local looks very bright for next year and beyond.
